Chinese Artist Luo Li Rong Creates Beautiful Bronze Sculptures Of Women

She creates astonishing sculptures that look 100% real.

Luo Li Rong (pronounced “lolijon”) was born in 1980 in Hunan, China. She is a sculptor who graduated in 2005 from the prestigious Beijing Central Academy of Fine Art (CAFA) with honours. Luo Li Rong entered the Changsha Academy of Art (Hunan-China) at the age of 18. At the age of 20, she joined the CAFA (Beijing) for 5 years in the department of Sun Jia Guo, in the ceramic section with Lu Pin Chang and in the sculpture section with Sun Jia Bo.

During this period, she participated in many public sculpture projects, notably for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, installed in Da Lian Park. Her graduation project was awarded several prizes. Now living in Europe for several years, she has been gaining recognition for her art from international galleries and collectors since 2014.

Luo Li Rong’s sculptures as a whole are part of contemporary Chinese culture while offering a subtle and relevant understanding of the West.

In the presence of her works, the viewer is immediately touched by the extreme finesse of the modelling and by the great sensuality that emanates from it. This mastery, as remarkable as it may be, is nevertheless erased in favour of the expression of his subject.

Thus, the sails and the wind in the hair echo the subject’s inner world. The drapery and the gaze, incredibly lively movements, as if they had just been captured in the moment, are for Luo Li Rong a door ajar on the dimension of eternity present in the Human being.

Chinese artist Luo Li Rong creates the most realistic feminine sculptures. This precise work and graceful lineaments give you an impression that the time has stopped and a second after the sculptures will move. You can almost see them breathing.

Life-sized sculptures made by Luo Li Rong are depicted in motion. Carefully detailed features are charming. Every single masterpiece has its own inimitable character and makes you feel like you are observing something supernatural. The clothes of the characters are very thin, flimsy and slightly waving – one strong wind blowing and they might fly away.

Luo Li Rong has been sculpting for much of her life. Her contemporary works seem to be affected by the techniques of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. People of that time made their sculptures as realistic as possible, and their sense of femininity is reflected in Luo Li Rong‘s gorgeous sculptures.

Metallic Sculptures by Kang Dong Hyun

The Last Island

Kang Dong Hyun is a korean artist that creates awe-inspiring figurative sculptures made out of metallic branches.

Kang welds spindly shoots and sprawling root-like shapes into facial features and bodies that are then finished with urethane paint.

Creating a cohesive display of flora and fauna, each hollow, stainless steel sculpture considers the relationship between species and the idea that all life on Earth may lead to an invisible string.

Stephanie Kilgast: an ode to nature

The Last Island

Inspired by natural forms, Stéphanie Kilgast’s artwork is an ode to nature and its current biodiversity. Plants, mushrooms, insects and other animals encounter in a vibrant swirl of colors under her brush or sculpting tools.

Since 2017, in her series “Discarded Objects”, she grows colorful organic sculptures on manufactured objects, celebrating the beauty of nature in a dialogue with humanity, questioning the lost balance between human activities and nature.

Her work has a cheerful post apocalyptic feel to it, a reassuring reminder that nature has the capacity to grow back, if we only let it.

Her work has been exhibited in North America, Asia, Australia and Europe.

MOVIE STATUES UNVEILED IN LEICESTER SQUARE~London (England)

Iconic Film Character Statues Unveiled In Leicester Square

Visitors take photos of Paddington Bear positioned on bench in Leicester Square.

Leicester Square is usually full of excitement, but now visitors can now watch their favourite film characters come to life.

Yesterday, thanks to the Heart of London Business Alliance and Westminster City Council, bronze statues of nine legendary film characters were unveiled in Leicester Square.

When you first enter the Square, there’s a map guiding you to where beloved characters are, although you won’t need any help spotting the first few.

Map of Scenes in the Square

Sitting on a bench facing the front of the Shakespeare statue is the eccentric Mr. Bean dressed in his signature smirk and suit. He was by far the most popular attraction, as onlookers waited in line just to have their picture taken next to the incompetent goof.

Just around the corner is Bugs Bunny, surrounded by his favourite snack — carrots — as well as his trusty mailbox.

To the right of everyone’s favourite rabbit is Gene Kelly from Singing in the Rain, re-enacting his famous lamppost swing.

There also lies airy Mary Poppins. A group of school girls stood staring up in awe of the fictional nanny, waiting to take a photo under her magical umbrella, possibly hoping to fly away with her.

Speaking of powerful women, in honour of the upcoming film Wonder Woman 1984, you can find the titular superhero as she dramatically busts through one of the walls in the square.

Thinking about eating your lunch in the square? Enjoy a meal with Paddington Bear, who is depicted eating his trademark marmalade sandwich (how many statues can one bear possibly need?).

The remaining statues do not lie on ground-level, but up above. Catch Batman keeping a watchful eye over those below, as the caped crusader stands mighty atop the Odeon Luxe Theatre.

Last but certainly not least, the comedy duo Laurel and Hardy teeter hand in hand of the edge of the TKTS booth roof. They’re only a few metres high, but the classic scene referenced takes place on a skyscraper from the 1929 film Liberty.

These statues are here to stay long-term and free of charge, so check them out when you get the chance.

Leonora Carrington Artist #Art #Surrealism

The Last Island

256ae422fd81515a7ebe2a967d07065e

Leonora Carrington

Born: April 6, 1917 – Clayton Green, Lancashire, England

Died: May 25, 2011 – Mexico City, Mexico

«I didn’t have time to be anyone’s muse… I was too busy rebelling against my family and learning to be an artist.»

Leonora Carrington Signature

Synopsis

Leonora Carrington established herself as both a key figure in the Surrealist movement and an artist of remarkable individuality. Her biography is colorful, including a romance with the older artist Max Ernst, an escape from the Nazis during World War II, mental illness, and expatriate life in Mexico. In her art, her dreamlike, often highly detailed compositions of fantastical creatures in otherworldly settings are based on an intensely personal symbolism. The artist herself preferred not to explain this private visual language to others. However, themes of metamorphosis and magic, as well as frequent whimsy, have given her art an enduring appeal.

Spanish sculptor Isabel Tomás (aka Lisa Toms) dreams up creatures that don’t live in our world. Based in La Sénia, Spain, the artist was just featured by Instagram’s official account where one of her creations received over 2 million likes. Isabel adds:

“My greatest source of inspiration is nature itself, not just animals and plants. I like to imagine how they’d behave, where they’d live, what they’d eat and other details, as if they were a real animal.”

Isabel designs, produces, sews, paints and varnishes all her creatures, which can be an arduous process since she does everything by hand, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Her artworks can be found for sale through Etsy store (but they sell out fast). You can also find her most recent creations at the links below.

Simplicity is art – Carol Gold Sculpture

Simplicity is art – Carol Gold Sculpture

Born in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1937, Carol Gold grew up on a dairy farm in western Massachusetts. Between 1956 and 1960, she studied art at Cornell University, and the museum school in Boston. Fourteen years later, her children old enough for her to return to sculpting full time, her work began develop in earnest.

Bronze casting techniques learned at the College of Martin in 1977-1978 enabled Gold to build and operate her own foundry. This intimacy with the entire casting process profoundly affected the evolution of her sculpture. She began to think in terms of the potential of the metal and started to use wax as her creative medium rather than the clay of her initials sculptures.

Simplicity is primary in her continuous search for forms with which to best express the essence of motion and mood. Through the textures and attitude of her figures and animals she strives to convey her feelings about nature and human character.

For the past 25 years, Gold’s work has been widely exhibited in the U.S. and Canada. Among her numerous awards are those received from the National Sculpture Society and the North American Sculpture Exhibition. Public commissions include sculptures for the city of Bakersfield, California, and for the campus of Southwest Oregon Community College in Coos Bay, Oregon.

«Humanity against Evil” by Gaetano Cellini #Art #Sculpture

The Last Island

gaetano-cellini-umanita-contro-il-male-02-665x404

“Humanity against Evil” – now at Rome’s National Gallery of Modern Art – was one of the first works by Ravenna-born sculptor Gaetano Cellini (1873-1937).

This allegoric, material expression of an ideal, is a perfect fit for Auguste Rodin’s quotation, “Art is the most sublime mission of mankind, since it is the expression of thought, which seeks to understand the world and to make it understood.”

Rodin was indubitably a source of inspiration for Cellini, who presented the plaster cast for this sculpture at the 1906 Milan Expo. On the base, he inscribed the title of the work and a couplet explaining its meaning: “Thus I’ll extirpate using my teeth and nails / the eternal pain that stings my heart”. He completed the actual marble sculpture in 1908.

Cellini was obviously inspired by Michelangelo as well – and the latter might have chosen a different caption for the muscular tension of…
