Luo Li Rong (pronounced “lolijon”) was born in 1980 in Hunan, China. She is a sculptor who graduated in 2005 from the prestigious Beijing Central Academy of Fine Art (CAFA) with honours. Luo Li Rong entered the Changsha Academy of Art (Hunan-China) at the age of 18. At the age of 20, she joined the CAFA (Beijing) for 5 years in the department of Sun Jia Guo, in the ceramic section with Lu Pin Chang and in the sculpture section with Sun Jia Bo.

During this period, she participated in many public sculpture projects, notably for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, installed in Da Lian Park. Her graduation project was awarded several prizes. Now living in Europe for several years, she has been gaining recognition for her art from international galleries and collectors since 2014.

Luo Li Rong’s sculptures as a whole are part of contemporary Chinese culture while offering a subtle and relevant understanding of the West.

In the presence of her works, the viewer is immediately touched by the extreme finesse of the modelling and by the great sensuality that emanates from it. This mastery, as remarkable as it may be, is nevertheless erased in favour of the expression of his subject.

Thus, the sails and the wind in the hair echo the subject’s inner world. The drapery and the gaze, incredibly lively movements, as if they had just been captured in the moment, are for Luo Li Rong a door ajar on the dimension of eternity present in the Human being.

Life-sized sculptures made by Luo Li Rong are depicted in motion. Carefully detailed features are charming. The clothes of the characters are very thin, flimsy and slightly waving – one strong wind blowing and they might fly away.

Luo Li Rong has been sculpting for much of her life. Her contemporary works seem to be affected by the techniques of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. People of that time made their sculptures as realistic as possible, and their sense of femininity is reflected in Luo Li Rong‘s gorgeous sculptures.
